It seems to me that every time I work our booth at a trade show, the same thing happens. A visitor walks onto the booth, delves into a tote bag and brings out a plastic tapered container – the kind used for spreads, olives, etc. “Can you label this?” is the question.
While the answer is (of course) yes, these can be tricky things to accurately label, especially if the label needs to be wrapped accurately all around the product. To make things more interesting, an addition label often needs to be applied to the top of the package.
At PackExpo this year, I’m looking forward to these questions. We have designed a new addition to our 9000 Series of labeling systems specifically for this application – the new LSI-9135.
Like the rest of our 9000 Series, the 9135 is intended to be as simple to use, set-up and maintain as possible and provide outstanding performance at a sensible price.
The secret of the performance is a wrap station that utilizes a vacuum belt to control the label as it is applied to the package. The labels used for these applications, are die-cut to be curved (yes, banana-shaped!) to allow them to wrap around the product with no wrinkles and the labeling station must apply them at just the right angle to ensure both quality and accuracy.

For adding viable information to the labels or product, the 9135 can be supplied with one of our digital laser, TTO or inkjet printers, to add date or lot codes, barcodes, graphics or other information on demand. To add flexibility, the 9135 can also easily label cylindrical containers as well – making it a super versatile labeling system.
