The distilled spirits market is crowded and competitive. With the introduction of new flavors and products, plus the growing craft distillery industry, your message can easily be lost in the crowd. In this business, labeling and coding are important for a number of reasons; marketing, authentication, and tracking are just a few.
Your packaging plays a key role in attracting consumer attention because it is the only advertising the buyer sees when shopping. The package labels need to be attractive, high quality, durable, and with legible text and codes. The closures must be easy for the consumer to use, and be attractive and functions. This is where ID Technology, powered by Pro Mach, excels. We have the labeling and coding solutions for every level of packaging for distilled products, from expertly printed prime labels to labeling and coding equipment.
Primary Packaging
Primary packaging refers to the labels applied to the packaging, as well as codes applied to the labels or packaging substrate. Since this is what the consumer sees when making the buying decision, it is an important part of the product.
Pressure Sensitive Labels
With six label printing plants, we can create digital and flexographic labels that meet your design requirements. When designing your label, consider the following:
- Label design should be memorable, colorful, and indicative of your brand. The product needs to stand out on shelves, so color and label material quality are key ingredients to a good label.
- The label also needs to conform to industry and FDA mandates, and include tracking and lot information.
- Anti-counterfeit measures, such as holograms, QR codes, some with hidden, embedded security features, are a necessary part of the label.
Our flexographic, digital, direct thermal and thermal transfer label materials enhance your label design. We create high-quality prime labels with standard, durable, and removable adhesives for custom designs and shapes for all product surfaces.
Digital Labels
Offering the flexibility and quality of digital printing with high volume output, our presses can handle even the most complex printing jobs.
- Quality prime labels with high resolution, better color gamut, and life-like colors.
- Less setup time and no plates mean an economical solution for custom short run labels with faster turnaround times.
- Design flexibility enables market testing with colors, text, or graphics without label minimums.
- Variable data printing for customized labels.
Flexo Labels
For high-quality color, high volume labels, flexographic printed labels from ID Technology provide the best graphic arts reproduction process for package printing. Flexographic printing can be done on a wide range of substrate materials, yielding superior quality graphics and barcodes.
Labeling Equipment
Our PE Labellers labeling systems are well established in the distilled beverage market, for both pressure sensitive and wet glue label application.
The ModularPlus rotary labeling system incorporates servo controlled bottle plates (6 – 10 on our standard line) and can be supplied with up to four labeling heads. Labels can be applied at up to, 300 inches per minute web speed.
Our laser coding system can be integrated into the labeler to print variable information, either onto the label or directly to the glass or plastic bottle.
Macsa Laser Coders
Macsa lasers perform in high-speed environments and produce high-quality, high-contrast lot codes, sell-by dates and variable data directly onto film, foils, glass, paperboard, paper labels or cardboard. No consumables are needed and the lasers require minimal maintenance, resulting in low operating costs. Macsa lasers are compact and simple to use and install. Lasers can be used standalone or networked to a central computer (NET version) to control multiple lasers from one central point.
Macsa lasers are available exclusively from ID Technology and have the widest product lineup in the industry.
- The laser codes high contrast lot numbers and text onto glass, plastic, or paper labels.
- Code traceability data, such as batch, season, bottling date, customer code, and production data directly onto glass bottles.
- Optional stainless steel housing is available for humid environments.
- Macsa SPA lasers include IP54 environmental protection as standard, with IP65 available as an option.
Continuous InkJet
Designed and built here in the USA, our Citronix ciSeries CIJ printers are easy-to-use, need minimal maintenance and produce great print quality. Add real-time coding to your products and keep up with high-speed production lines. Add identifying marks such as date and lot codes, barcodes, traceability codes and logos on a range of packaging types with our reliable, industrial line-up of CIJ printers.
- Stable UV inks that cure immediately to eliminate smearing and distortion.
- Perfect for adding date codes to bottles and cans.
- Excellent ink adhesion, even with condensation.
Thermal Transfer Overprinters
Our range of Thermal Transfer Overprinters (TTO) add variable information to flexible packaging – date codes, lot numbers, price, and barcodes.
Each EasyPrint thermal transfer overprinter integrates into both intermittent and continuous packaging lines for maximum uptime. Thermal transfer overprinting is the perfect choice for printing sharp, clear image on packaging in high volume manufacturing environments.
Optional enclosure protects the printer during wash down.
Secondary Packaging
ID Technology’s label printer applicators allow you to label one or multiple sides of your cases, cartons, and shipping containings. Print and apply labels in real-time with our range of applicator modules and your choice of OEM print engines.
Laser Marking on Cartons
Combine a DataLase solution with our Macsa lasers to mark directly onto cartons. The DataLase material is printed directly onto the carton during converting and produces a color change
when activated with a low power CO2 laser.
High-Resolution Inkjet
Replace your inventory of preprinted cases and cartons with large character printing using the FoxJet ProSeries of inkjet printers. Produce high-quality, high-resolution text, barcodes and graphic images directly onto cases on demand. We offer various printhead configurations that provide up to 4″ hight printing at 300 dpi print resolution.
Labeling Boxes and Pallets
Print and apply multiple labels to pallets or boxes with one of ID Technology’s elegant and cost effective solutions. Apply labels to one, two, or three sides of a box or pallet; a laser type sensor locates the position of the area to be labeled for accurate placement of the label. Our solutions work with irregular pallets and tolerances in material handling. We also offer an optional stainless steel enclosure for washdown environments.
