Just a quick note for anyone having problems with Datamax RFID printers.
We have had three printers (two brand new from Datamax and one an RFID retrofit) where the RFID module refused to encode the tag in the labels.
This became rather frustrating for a while, until the problem was solved by using a new firmware version.
The problem exists for both M-Class and H-Class RFID printers using the new Thing Magic encoder and firmware 14.132 or older. The printer will read the tag OK and perform an RFID calibration, but will not encode the tags, either from BarTender or from a DPL file.
I was just able to test firmware 14.138 in an RFID M-Class and it is now working fine.
At the time I’m writing this, the download on the main Datamax-O’Neil site is still 14.132. If you are having issues with encoding your RFID tags, let us know and we can get you a version to get you up and running.
