Rigid RFID Tags Solve Metal Mount Problem

Using standard passive Gen 2 RFID tags on metal surfaces can be tricky because the interference from the metal detunes the tag’s antenna. Several workarounds exist to avoid this problem, such as using foam spacers to keep the tag’s antenna away from the metal surface, or building a metallic backplane into the tag.

Sometimes, though, these workarounds don’t solve your whole problem. What if the RFID tag come in contact with solvents or environmental factors that could ruin the spacer material? Or what if the tag is exposed to harsh industrial applications or drastic temperatures. 

Rigid RFID tags can solve these problems. The RFID tag is enclosed in tough plastic, making it durable, reusable, and resistant to chemicals and weather. And they can adhere to metal and other tough-to-tag surfaces.
