When designing the new Model 255 Label Printer Applicator, ID Technology wanted to produce the ultimate connected labeling system, that would be perfect for system integrators, OEMs and for end users looking for a fully integrated solution. With a control philosophy built around PackML and an Allen Bradley PCL, the 255 is ready to be integrated into just about any packaging line or materials handling system.
The new 255 is based on the modular 252 labeling system, the best selling label printer applicator in North America. All of the comprehensive range of applicator modules can be used with the 255 and, as will all ID Technology systems, the customer can choose print engines from SATO, Datamax and Zebra.
The controls of the 255 are built around an Allen Bradley PLC to enable easy integration, the 255 PLC comes with Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP communications. Standard I/O includes 28 inputs and 20 outputs (which can be extended) as well as a five port Ethernet switch.
PackML Compatibility.
PackML is a standard for machine control developed by the Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC) which is being adopted by many companies. ID Technology’s parent company, Pro Mach, Inc., is committed to PackML and has a seat on the OMAC board of directors.
As well as a communications protocol that allows the different pieces of equipment on a packaging like to exchange information, PackML provides a consistent interface for the equipment – making it easy for operators and reducing training time.
On-board Diagnostics.
With all equipment there will be a time where a problem needs to be diagnosed. The Model 255’s enhanced diagnostic displays make this quick and easy – getting you up and running again as soon as possible.
The operator interacts with the 255 via a color touch screen interface, built into the machine faceplate. A remote HMI is available as an option as well for applications when the standard touchscreen is not easily accessible.
