Our friends over at Intermec have told us that the end of this year (December 31, 2013) will be the last date that Intermec will ship printheads for the 4400 and 3400 printer models (the 3240 printer is also at the end of its build life, but will be supported for a little longer).
If you use these printer models, it would be a good idea to ensure you have enough printheads available to keep your operations going for a while, unless you prefer to upgrade to more modern printer models.
Intermec’s new PM43 and PM43C printers are the intended replacement models and are the best designed Intermec printers in years.
We’ve been fighting through the early adopter pain with these printers, but the latest firmware and drivers seem to be solid now. Intermec has also provided some good information covering changes to the IPL programming that we need to take into account.
Intermec has put together an attractive trade-in deal as well – specially designed to tempt legacy printer users into the PM43.
