Barcodes for Inventory Control

Well, here at Winco ID it is the end of another financial year so time to check all our inventory.

Because we can make pressure sensitive labels in a huge number of sizes, we have a correspondingly large selection of dies to keep track of.

Fortunately, barcoding and barcode scanning makes keeping track of all these dies fast and simple. Each die is packed in its own box and is labeled with a unique license plate number. All we have to do is scan the barcode, capture the number and automation takes care of the rest.

Here is John in action, grabbing the numbers from one part of the die inventory. He has made the operation mobile by taking advantage of our Newcastle workstation. On the workstation (usually called Rosie) we have a PC with a barcode scanner as well as some label printers. If  John finds that any of the labels – either on the die boxes or the shelf locations – is damaged, he can immediately print a replacement.

Using the mobile workstation and simple data collection tools is a great way to make a job like this painless and much more accurate.
