DoD Label Templates – Version 2.0
We have had our label templates for DoD labeling compliance available for some time and they are doing a good job in helping our customers produce compliant labels for MIL-STD-129 and 130.
One limitation is that the templates use Microsoft Excel as a database and in some instances; Excel doesn’t seem to be quite up to the job.
To help with this, I’ve just finished DoD Templates 2.0 which uses Microsoft Access as the database so is going to provide more solid performance.
As before, the new label templates are free of charge for Winco ID customers and a nominal charge for non customers. A 12 month support/maintenance plan is strongly recommended.
The template set includes unit and exterior labels as well as MSL and UID label templates. The MIL-STD-129 labels can be used with or without RFID. An Access database is included to get you started.
Our DoD templates are made with Bartender – the best software for designing these labels and for integration into your workflow. A while ago the maker of Bartender, Seagull Scientific, came out with a super new version, Bartender 9. Our new templates are designed in Bartender 9 and are not intended to be used with older versions.
For your DoD labeling, especially if you need to print and encode RFID labels, we recommend Bartender RFID Enterprise. Our WAWF workflow solution, idWorx! also uses Bartender so this would be a good time to upgrade.
Our previous version of the DoD Templates (version 1.01) will still be available for customers using Bartender 8 or wishing to use Excel to populate the labels.
